Content writing is the most important part of search engine optimization (SEO). It is the key to increasing exposure on search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Websites with well-written and resourceful information rank much higher than normal websites. We are going to discuss the content strategy associated with SEO and provide valuable tips on how to write SEO-optimized content.
TIP 1- QUALITY CONTENT
Search engines have become smarter and more advanced, especially with Artificial Intelligence. New websites require new information, it’s important to add Unique Written Content to your website if you want it to perform well on search engines. Here are several options for creating content on your website:
HIRE PROFESSIONAL WRITER
It is recommended that you hire a professional writer to create your website content. There are many freelance writers on the internet. We recommend looking into the writer’s star-rating system (5 Stars) and reviews from previous customers. It’s wise to select a writer with a degree and years of writing experience.
Once your writer has completed an article, check if the work is legitimate and human-written. Use these 2 tools to check for unique content:
COPYSCAPE
Copyscape is a plagiarism tool that checks if your content exists on another website. Add an article to the Copyscape platform, and it will scan the internet, looking for identical information.
– If your content is unique, it will say “No Results Found”.
– If your content is copied, it will list the site/s that use that information.
Copyleaks is an AI plagiarism tool that checks if your content was written by a human or an AI program. Add your article on Copyleaks and find out within seconds if the article was created by an AI Bot or a human
If you have good writing skills, write the website information yourself. The main advantage of writing website information is you have business knowledge, and you know what to write. Writers do not have enough information to construct the perfect article.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Many web owners have adopted unethical tricks to add content to their websites. Avoid implementing the following practices:
DUPLICATE CONTENT
Duplicate content is the process of copying information from another website and using it on your website.
Here are two reasons why you shouldn’t use Duplicate Content:
1. LEGAL
Duplicate content is a copyright violation and may lead to legal action. We strongly encourage you not to copy information from another website, unless you reference the website source.
2. GOOGLE
Google does not favor websites with duplicate content. Google has automated programs that constantly crawl the internet looking for new content, and duplicate content sites are discovered quickly. Duplicate content sites have zero chance of reaching Page 1 of Google.
SPUN CONTENT
Spun Content is content that has been re-worded by an AI, or software program, to appear unique to search engines. There are many programs that spin content well, but many times the sentences do not make sense. There are Spun Content businesses that claim their programs are 100% foolproof but there is evidence that it isn’t true. Use Copyleaks to make sure your content is human-written.
TIP 2- LOTS OF CONTENT
Google loves lots of content- the more, the better is their main philosophy. Websites with more information perform much better than websites with less information. Increasing the information on your website can boost your search engine rankings for several keywords. This is our recommendation on the number of words each page of your site should contain:
HOME PAGE
The Home Page should briefly discuss your company and its services, highlighting important aspects of your business. The Home page is the main entry point to your site and directs users to the appropriate pages. The Home page should have 1000 – 2000 words.
ABOUT US PAGE
The About Us Page should talk about your company’s experience and workforce. The About Us page should contain between 500 – and 1000 words.
SERVICES PAGE
The services pages should discuss your services and what makes your business unique compared to your competitors. Services Pages should be 750 -1500 words long.
PRODUCT PAGES
The product pages should discuss the benefits of your products after the Product Listing section. Product pages should be 250 – 1000 words long.
BLOG ARTICLES
Blog Articles usually contain interesting information and tips regarding the website industry. The Blog Articles should contain between 750 – 2500 words.
TIP 3- KEYWORDS
The placement of keywords in content writing plays an important role in SEO. Find relevant and high-traffic keywords using Keyword Research Tools. Each piece of content writing should be built around 1 Primary Keyword and several Secondary Keywords. This is how and where you should add keywords to your content writing.
HEADINGS
You should include your keywords in the 7 different types of headings (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H7). Add your primary keyword in the H1 heading tag, and your secondary keywords in the rest of the heading tags. (Do not repeat the same keywords often in each heading)
CONTENT
Incorporate your keywords naturally in your website’s content. Your primary and secondary keywords should be mentioned around 2% throughout your article, do not exceed this percentage. Keywords repeated too often appear as keyword spamming and may result in search engine penalties.
KEYWORD PLACEMENT
The primary keyword should be mentioned in the first and last sentence of your article. The primary and secondary keywords should be naturally mentioned throughout your article too. Here are other places you should include your keywords:
META TITLE
Include your primary keyword here, do not exceed 60 characters in length when writing our meta title.
META DESCRIPTION
Include your secondary keywords here, do not exceed 200 characters in length when writing your meta description.
ALT TAG
Alt tags are the alternative text replacement to images that cannot be displayed by certain browsers. Include your primary and secondary keywords in the ALT tags of your images.
TIP 4- SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
Spelling and grammar count towards your SEO score. Content needs to be readable and understandable. Adding content with multiple spelling and grammar mistakes can negatively impact your SEO. Always check the quality of your content using this website:
GRAMMARLY
Grammarly is an automated program that finds spelling and grammar mistakes in your content and provides automated recommendations on how to improve the content. Even if a professional writer has completed an article, you should check the grammar with Grammarly.
It’s important to integrate media into your websites and articles. Media amplifies the message of the article and makes the content more readable. Google does not like blocks of text and not including media in your articles will contribute negatively to your SEO Score. You can either use Free Images or paid images. Paid images are recommended as they include more professional options. If you have a low budget, then use Free Images.
